Lullaby - Chapter 18

...Finally, two hours later, Zim added the last ingredient to the mixture. He held it victoriously over his head and yelled, “The snack juice is now COMPLETE!” Dib smiled wickedly before breaking out in maniacal laughter. Zim watched him in utter confusion as Dib began tearing up. Dib stopped abruptly when he opened his eyes to see Zim edging away. “Okay, I’m done now,” he said. “That was…awkward and disturbing,” Zim said slowly. The two rivals just looked at each other strangely and the room was very quiet for a length of time. Zim broke the silence saying, “Now take your snack juice and be gone with you! Never tell any living being that the great ZIM helped you in making something as simple as this!” He handed Dib the sleeping gel in a soda-can-sized container. Dib took it and looked at it for a second. Then he brought his head back up to Zim.

...“You can drink it,” he said as casually as he could. “What for? I thought you wanted it. Isn’t that why you came?” Zim asked suspiciously. “The second half of the assignment is to have the other person drink it,” Dib said, grinning inside. “That sounds very peculiar, but I suppose I’ll drink it after all. And then I’ll watch as you cry because you couldn’t have any!” Zim laughed as he snatched the container away. Dib acted upset while Zim inserted a straw into the container and started drinking it. Then he waited anxiously for Zim to finish it. When Zim was done, nothing happened. “That wasn’t half bad if I say so myself,” Zim said. Dib dropped to his knees and screamed, “WHYYYYY!!!!?” After his breakdown, he got up and looked at Zim who was now sleeping where he stood. “Oh, it worked,” Dib said. Then realization settled in. “Yes! Now I can bring him to the S.E.N! This is my most glorious moment ever!”

...He then began to drag Zim to the elevator.
