Lullaby - Chapter 26

   “Sirs, I have successfully transferred the locked signal onto another ship. The S.E.N will now change course and not be a bother to us,” the technician said a moment later. Dib fell unto his knees and screamed. “NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Now they’ll think it was another hoax! Why’d ya’ have to go and do that!?” He whined, almost to the point of crying. The Tallest merely glanced at each other and rolled their eyes. Red said, “You seriously thought we were going to waste our time messing around with your friends when other things are more important? We still have yet to deal with Zim.” He laughed at Dib’s sadness…or anger…or maybe both…I’m not sure which. When Red and Purple had turned back to Sploink, Dib slapped his forehead in realization. “Dib you’re so stupid! You still have your laptop! You can tell the S.E.N that they’ve been tricked!” Dib told himself. He took out his miniature laptop again and contacted the S.E.N.

   Inside their ship, Agent Disembodied Head looked at Darkbootie. “It’s him again,” he said. “Wonder what he wants this time? More reporters?” Darkbootie retorted. He put Dib online and waited for him to begin speaking. “The ship you’re following is a decoy! Whatever you do, don’t follow it! The Massive exchanged your locked signal with the ship you’re following. I’ll give you the Massive’s coordinates again. This time be more discreet,” Dib said quietly. “It is good you informed us Mothman. When we received your transmission before, we were able to stay locked on the Massive long enough to learn that it was indeed an alien vessel. We were skeptical at first, seeing how your paranormal background has been. Notify us if anything else happens,” Darkbootie said. Dib said he would and signed off. Then he stowed the laptop in his pocket once more. He grinned gleefully and focused his attention on the Tallest again.

   After Dib had transmitted to the S.E.N, Darkbootie ordered his crew to turn the cloaking device on.
